Some Stats
Some studies show that Hepatitis C and HIV are prevalent among African-Americans, people living in poverty, and those incarcerated and the growing status of our health care system where so many american families do not even posses health care insurance. Stats show that over 40 million americans do not have health care. For the incarcerated: Duration of residency requirements is a prerequisite in some correctional facilities as a way to withhold expensive hepatitis C treatment from the incarcerated. the expense is not just the treatment but the support required along with dealing with any side effects thus requiring mental health support as well.
