A Relationship Between Smoking And Coronary Heart Disease

It remains a personal choice to smoke cigarettes yet this habit is the primary coronary heart disease risk factor.  The inhalation of smoke constricts the arteries and this in turn limits the blood flow throughout those arteries and the risk factor for a heart attack becomes apparent.  Breathing problems and lung cancer also are byproducts of this dangerous habit.  It was routine for the film and television industries to picture actors smoking and portraying themselves as being “cool” to their viewers.  It takes years before the toll is felt on the heart from the smoking habit and if this habit is given up before coronary heart disease strikes, the person has a chance of avoiding a life threatening condition. Damage to the heart can be undone and the healing process started as the heart muscle works at reversing the toll that nicotine addiction has caused.
