Moving to College
When you finally decide that you’re moving to college, it seems like there is no amount of stuff that you can bring with you. After all, it is only natural that you’d feel like you needed all of the comforts of home with you wherever you go. Moving to college doesn’t have to be a sad experience, however. It can and should be an exciting time. Some parents experience the whole "empty nest" syndrome where they have spent all of this time around you, raising you and now you’re no longer a child. You have to "leave the nest" so to speak, and test out your new wings. As trying as this may be, students need to remember that they are going to get out of college what they put into it. A lot of people make the mistake of goofing off, skipping class and going to too many parties, neglecting to realize that college costs a lot of money. Also, the reason that people usually go to college is so that they can improve the prospects of landing a well-paying job in the future to support themselves and their families. So, while you are packing all of your stuff and putting together a mixed tape for the road, don’t lose focus of what college is truly about.
