Comparing Gas Mileage
Doing a gas mileage comparison is not easy because some vehicles give their best mileage on highways while some on city roads. A most fuel-efficient in one country may not necessarily perform the same in the entire world. Performance and life of a car also very much depends on fuel used and maintenance. Mileages given by vehicles or rather gas mileage comparison differ at same quantity of gas.
We cant have gas mileage comparison between vehicles with same engines deliver same mileages and vehicles with same engines and different mileages.
The Toyota Highlander Hybrid two wheel drive versions and Lexus RX 400h have 3.3-liter six-cylinder engine, which deliver 25 highway miles and 28 city miles per gallon. The mileage delivered by both versions is same with same versions of 3.3-liter six-cylinder engine. Whereas, the mileage delivered by Ford Escape Hybrid 4WD is 28 city and 27 highway miles per gallon while Ford Escape Hybrid FWD is 31 city and 29 highway miles per gallon.
Gas mileage comparison is also possible even in the case of different powered engines but equal mileages delivered. Rationally engine with extra power should deliver more mileage than the engine with less power. Whereas in reality there are vehicles having the same powered engine delivering different mileages.
